Per a note in GAL p. 65 from Gregg Miller, the above clips work well for kerfing installation. $10 for 500.

That's quite a deal. Have you used them before?

I have not used them. They look a bit flimsy, but I think with a flexible enough kerfing they should be OK. After all, when you glue individual blocks, you do not use any clamp.

Do they have a version to clip unkerfings? Asking for a friend.

I've always felt that kerfing should be free.

I've used the same rubber banded cloths pins since circa 1990 on a bit more then 65 guitars. But those spring clamps John posted look tempting. I'd like to hear from anyone that used those skirt clips though. So how do they work? They look like they have a little hook lock or something? So you squeeze it and it locks in place?

Yes, you squeeze it and the little teeth grab each other.

Are the spring clamps in your link metal? I had a plastic one from freight explode, as did other who posted.

I've used these for over 10 years and they work well. Unfortunately they are not as cheap as they used to be.

I have over 100 of those little ones that John linked. Bought them at different times, from different sources. I use them all the time for linings. If I do both sides of a violin I can use all of them. I didn't even have enough to glue the linings on one side of the guitar. 17 cents each is pretty cheap.

Not a fan of the plastic ones, the tips move around. Maybe that works for some things, but in a hurry with HHG is not one of those times. The only problem with the metal ones is that the plastic protectors fall off some times. I thought about using that plastic dip stuff. It should work.

Interesting, the rotating tips on the plastic clamps is why I like them, they self level, so to speak, and don't mar anything. The only thing I use them for is gluing linings.

Yep, and the HF ones can make the job quite colorful. They're so cheap that if they break, you can toss them or keep them for repair parts. When I've glued purfling to binding I've opened up the foot and it wraps around the edge and doesn't slip off
