I'm pretty pleased with the results. A couple quick refinements and that'll be done.

Wonder if you could implement a rotary cutter into that

I like it a lot. Cutting purfling has also been a pain for me.

Making one is high on my to do list. Thanks for posting

Steve Latta is the go-to guy for furniture stringing. He designed the stringing tools for L-N and he has some good ideas. Here is an article he did for FWW on making a slicing gauge like the one that L-N sells. Neat that it has an oval beam for easy cutting of the mortice, and that it uses a blade like an Exacto #11 which is cheap and resharpenable. You could easily simplify it by eliminating the brass wear strip:

https://www.finewoodworking.com/2006/12/15/a-shopmade-slicing-gauge

He also did a video showing the use of a simple woodworking marking gauge with a sharpened pin to repeatedly score a veneer to cut it.

The picture below shows his set up for cutting strips. Notice the thin, light colored fence that the veneer butts against. You then set the width with the slicing gauge so you can cut repeated variable widths. In the picture, he has a black/white veneer sandwich he is cutting

These are good ideas and I plan to use them; but till I make a few tools I am using my veneer saw. Not precise but it works fine on larger sheets, Then I cut strings 1/8" on BS with 14 tooth blade. Requires blade change and smoothing the cut edge but works till I make a new tool. This may inspire me.
