After researching the topic of straight or slanted saddle slots and compensation, I am more confused than ever. However, my research has led to the decision to go with a straight saddle bridge, but the question remains about how much compensation to add. Some say 1mm, some 2mm or even 2,5mm, there are so many opinions on the subject.
I have built several steel string guitars, but this is my first classical build and I'm using a Torres plan which states adding 2mm to the front of the saddle. Just wondering what the forum suggests.

p.s. it might be worth noting I'll be using a 3mm saddle.

2mm setback will work perfectly well, especially for your first classical. You may know this but the top of the saddle is shaped differently than a steel. The front of the saddle becomes the termination point. A single, gentle radius is shaped on the back side of the saddle.

As Tom says 2 mm is pretty much standard and works pretty well. Dave M

I use 1mm compensation on the first string, and 2 mm on the 6th string (and a slanted saddle).
