One of my usual Stella jumbo 12 strings .this one’s a short scale, 25-1/4”
The star of the show is the purfling!
Adirondack red Spruce TOP
Honduran mahogany back, sides and one piece neck.
Gaboon ebony fretboard
Brazilian rosewood pyramid, bridge, and head veneer
Semi gloss nitro finish straight off the gun(saves 5 hours!)

That’s lovely as usual. I remember seeing this one in progress on IG (aka luthier world) and loving the green purfling.

Where's my shades.... OK, found 'em 8-)

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Your welcome.

Gurian Instruments made the purfling-they dye the fiber in house-I don't know the method.
