Okay, I've posted pictures before of this guitar I built in 1993 for a longtime client and dear friend. No need to post detailed photos again. Every time I talk to Sterling on the phone, via email, or face to face he never fails to thank me profusely for building him that guitar. And I've told him numerous times that he's thanked me enough, and that I know he appreciates my efforts on his behalf.

But the other day he got flustered and stopped me dead. "No - look, brother. You showed me what you were doing all the way through the build and really educated me. I'm still in wonder at your knowledge and skill. But I have to thank you for this guitar, and I will continue to thank you for making it. You built me the perfect instrument to express myself musically. And being able to do that pays my rent, bought my car, put food in the mouths of my kids, paid for their clothing and put them through school. You did that for me when you thought you were only building a single guitar for me. Now I've got a grandson, and he knows your name and that you are my friend and my luthier. So I thank you again, and I must thank you - deeply and truly".

I was humbled in that moment. I'm still humbled. And I post here because we never know how far and wide our influence extends... Even into the future.

It's often times the best part of the job. Recently I restored an old Gibson for a blues musician who bought it in a shop in New Orleans and busked on the streets there back in the 90's. He left it in a hot car and it got destroyed. Some 30 years later the guitar is back to life and he was practically in tears.

And in cases like your guy here it's a true tool for making a living.
