You all need to quit with this faster time to a quality edge business. I have other stuff I need to buy at the moment. Now, if I can just figure out how to get the CNC to sharpen my tools for me. :D

Thanks for all the kind comments about the adjustable jig. I can't take credit for the idea; there is a Robert Sorby tools discussion forum, and I got this idea from the ProEdge page there. It is not a very active forum, but it has some useful information here and there.

Don and other Proedge owners- Since a lot of straight chisels have blades with angled backs, have any of you found a good way to measure the angle to set the tool rest to get the angle you want? The quarters are kind of cramped on the sander and all of my angle measuring tools are too big. Today I was fitting the dovetail on a new Spanish cedar neck. I have to say it is really nice to have this new sharpener right next to my bench.

Bob—

You’re talking about chisels that have a slightly tapered thickness to the body of the chisel? I just don’t worry about it. If the bevel angle winds up being a degree or two off, due to the taper, it is still repeatable as to that chisel.
