Happy Thanksgiving!

I’ll be spending most of the day in the spray booth. :D

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! No shop work here today. I'm working on taking "guitars in space" shots of the octave mando/guitar hybrid I finished last week.

Happy Thanksgiving all. Box is done now time for the neck.

Edit: Is it just me? Tapatalk no longer does a good job uploading photos. Had to send it to the computer to upload it.

Today I'm burning wood instead of cutting it--got the smoker cranked up with a nice turkey in it...

Dave

PS--actually I did do some work in the shop earlier, fine tuning the neck joint on the guitar I'm working on. It went ok so the guitar didn't have to contribute to my turkey dinner tonight.

Very nice! I love the wavy grain. How do you do side purfling on a bevel like that? Does it have to be glued in by itself first, and then binding added after? I'd much appreciate some in-progress photos if you have any.

Thanks Dennis. I use Kent Everett's method. The purfling channels are cut into the sides and top before the bevel backing and top are attached. Side purfling is attached to the binding as usual then binding is relieved over the bevel so it will flex into place. Finally the bevel is carved and veneer is attached. Next time I'll take some photos, Carlos (Kent) came up with an ingenious method.

I'll try that in-progress photo again. Loading photos in Tapatalk used to work nicely, oh well.

Dennis, turns out I did take one photo while I was binding the arm bevel. This should help clarify things.

Three at a time, 2 with wood from our property and a Chechen ABG. It's time to finish the bodies. Ohh, and repairing the bear damage to the chicken coop and the garden gates. Wish we could get some rain around here.

We've had plenty of rain thank goodness, and the only issues we've had with bears have had to do with garbage (mama and 3 cubs on my patio)...
