I still can't get anything to work. John, in the future, if you need someone to host a Zoom meeting for an event like this, I volunteer to do that for you.

Same here, I clicked "join" and it took me to a list of "20 magazine" events, but the ASIA event wasnt there.

I also logged onto the ASIA web site. Nothing about it there.

Same for Bluescreek web site.

Too bad, I hope the event is recoreded for later viewing.

Truth is all this technology is still very half baked. My daughter’s school is a joke. Between not being able to join, ghosted teachers, dropped calls, and kids who walk away leaving a crying baby on mic for an hour, she is learned nearly nothing —and were told we have one of the better districts for distance learning. She wastes half a morning on a computer and then we home school her.

Pointless Zoom business calls that could have been handled just as well or better over the phone is a whole nother rant. :-(

From Google to Zoom to Slack to Facebook, all of them are promising way more than they actually can deliver.

Yep, me too. Even though the event showed up, "join event" didn't take me to it.

I share the frustration with technology, but our choices at the moment are to withdraw from using it completely or deal with its limitations, keep calm, and carry on. I choose the latter. I also give myself permission to throw the occasional tantrum over how maddening it can be, but then I get back to business.

I use Zoom a fair amount, and can usually get it to do what needs to be done. So, again, I offer to host a Zoom meeting for ASIA, if the folks who run ASIA would like to use that platform for a meeting. I find it to be way less of a crap shoot than anything that happens on Facebook, but maybe that's just my experience.

We had a tech issue that we got figured out but too late. I apologize for that. I had to move it to my facebook page. We will do this again soon and I will let you all know so I can get more info on how this works

Thanks for doing it.

Our local woodworking organization has gone to a monthly Zooom meeting. Zoom definitely has a lot of limitations and annoyances, but I would rather have the zooom meeting than nothing at all. The number of members on the zoom is much lower than on the in-person meetings but of those that do call in, everybody talks and shows what they have been working on.

My local woodworking club has been doing a monthly Zoom meeting for about 5 months. It works fine. People do pre-taped demonstrations, etc. it’s better than not getting together at all.
