Having mostly finished lacquer on my guitar's soundboard, I went to mask it off before addressing the b/s finish and I noticed 3M's caution not to use their blue painter's tape on lacquers. Oops?

Has anyone found a masking tape safe on nitrocellulose lacquer? Not for extended periods of time, 24 hours at most.

Yah, 3M has a lot of different blue tapes. I remember googling which blue tape was safe, I think it didnt take very long to see which ones are safe and which are not.

This stuff is great! It's low tack but enough to hold things in place. If you are talking about tape for binding this is not it but it's great for holding protective sheets in place and that sort of thing.

Agreed! This is good stuff and it won't mess up finishes. I use the wide rolls and just tape it over the body for protection while I'm leveling frets and doing other repair tasks. I use the narrow tape (~1") to run down each side of the neck before I tape the fret board with 3M 233+ prior to leveling the frets. the 233+ is safe for lacquer but the low tack tape makes it real easy to remove the green 3M tape when I'm done; someone here recommended that and it's a good trick. A lot faster than the poster board I used to cut and fit.
