I own one, its an awesome tool. My only complaint was the fact that that it did not work well with cutaways designs (one dog had nothing to bite on). I made a chunk of MDF that filled the cutaway, carpet taped it in, never had a problem other than it was awkward at best. This is probably true of most neck angle jigs. Sadly, I got myself in trouble here with the owners and they don't talk to me anymore. I really wished we could put this behind us. But, the controversy apparently caused them to look into it. But, I am unsure if it is solved. For a while on their site, they had a blurb saying they were looking into it. Now, it says to contact them via email. If they came up with a a functional design, then why not list it?

The tool is amazing. If a fix was created, I want it. Cutaways are not rare builds. So... anybody know?

The neck angle jig we use - the original version of Mr. Paul Woolson's design, built from plans - does not suffer from any issues with accommodating cutaway bodies, but it also does just one thing - holds the neck for cutting the dovetail or tenon. We use a separated jig for holding the body and milling the neck joint.

In looking at the site, it appears as though LuthierTool now sells an edge vise configured for cutaway guitars - nice to see a company respond to a little user prodding, and hope they recognize the value of their customers concern with making a good product great.

Mike, I think it's listed on the site if I'm understanding what you are asking. They have a version of the edge vise with wider dogs on the one side.

The video makes it seem more complicated than it is. It's the same process as the Woolson jig or any other like it (isn't Robbie O'Brien's jig basically a Woolson jig?).

I've long wanted to try one of these jigs—but had the same question about a cutaway solution. Would love to know if the new edge vise works as well as some of their other tools.

I have the lmii jig. It seems to work fine, but I do like the idea of something metal and ridged

Its not all that complicated once you understand it. Back when I bought it, there were very few useful videos. I found the the vice, I will email them. It looks a lot like the sketches I saw back when I interacted with them.

I just got info back from Glenda and Chris. After studying the vice in another thread, I am convinced this will work with cut-aways. I see how it works. More surface area contact. If u intend to use for cut-away, order the long dogs.
