It's funny how I start guitars in sequence but they don't always end sequentially.

These are also the first guitars I have finished since my very long sabbatical.

Both are Small Jumbos. I used a water-based finish from LMI called CrystaLac Brite Tone.

Lovely work Markus. The detailing, like the matching the neck laminations with the back strip - very nice. I love walnut and you have used it really well in both of these guitars. I haven't seen it used much for fingerboards. Are you hapy that it is hard enough, or did you toughen it with CA or something? And that redwood top is just outrageously beautiful!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Beautiful guitars. I would suggest working a bit on tightening up your purfling miters. Most people don't notice those tiny details but they jump out at me.

It seems to be ok, I haven't played the guitar enough to really be certain. It is something I am wary of, though. The redwood really stunned me, i bought it from a local guy here thinking it would sound like cardboard. It actually sounds pretty good, not as bright or loud as the sitka, but not bad! I think this guy still has a few sets left, i might go over and buy the rest of them.

That is good feedback. Looking at the miters now I can definitely see they need to be better. I remember them looking pretty good when I made them but when I sanded everything down, a gap formed. Which means I need to get a good joint all the way through. I am going to be working a lot on cosmetic improvements in my next guitars.
