Just took this second side out of the mould, seems to have gone well. bliss
I was expecting potential problems with the amount of sapwood and the heartwood strip, cupping, warping, springback etc. but no fuss, no drama, just bent.

The picture in the mould is not held by the spreaders.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Well done! I have a set I might be working on soon. What thickness did you get it down to before bending?

1.9mm (0.075). I used SSII, left overnight.
