I built this one along with the SJ in a previous post together so that I could finish them at the same time. Finishing is such a PITA that I wanted to do them at the same time. This is a figured maple OOO 12 fret with a three piece back using leopard wood. I also used leopard for the binding. Coco fingerboard and bridge. EM6000 on this one too.

BTW - I sent a few photos of a couple of my builds using EM6000 and they have the pictures on their website... (and I guess Instagram too...)

That's a really nice 12 fret Steve, and the finish is outstanding.
Just came across a 12 fret OOO template in "the pile" today strangely enough...

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

This photo reveals the figure better than the other photos. My photography could be improved...

It’s a nice contrast to have the binding match the neck wood. Or at least contrast the body the same way.
Nice looking????
