Pretty Guitar. I'm sure he will have mixed emotions about receiving it.

Lovely memory.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Very nice memorial for him, Brad. I'm sure he will treasure it his lifetime.
Is that a large Stella size?

A beautiful guitar, made for a poignant purpose. You should create some sort of certificate on nice paper, explaining the origin of the guitar, and place it in the case string compartment. That way, the story can live on beyond the memory of the initial owner.

Brad. Beautiful workmanship. I appreciate the headstock workmanship. What is the DePaul rosette inlay set into? Ebony? And do you hand inlay your logo? Nice work.

Brad

Beautiful work. Did he have input in the design or was it left to you? What's the finish?

The rosette is set in epoxy dyed black with powdered dye.

The logo on this guitar I inlayed with a dremel. I usually have the cavity CNC'd by Tom Ellis (highly recommended) who cuts them on CNC for me.

He came over and we looked at several guitars I made and he picked different elements of the guitar like which woods, slot head, body style, inlays.

He left the rest to me such as neck shape, string length, finish.

The finish is nitro-I tried to keep it as thin as I could......
