I was told LMI is out of the spring steel. Does anyone know online where I can order some? I did a search but couldn't find any to suit my bending needs. Thanks in advance

try mscdirect.com a general commercial supplier. GEt LMI's specifications and call them, they have so much stuff you'll need a clerk to help you.

Check you local town for steel vendors. If you have manufacturing in your area you will have a steel vendor. The price for them to cut to your requirments will be much much less than what LMI charges I paid $8.00ea for 4 pieces 6x36 316ss stress relieved spring steel.MichaelP38408.6013194444

I got a roll from McMaster-Carr a few years ago. Good prodcut, good price.

Check to see is there is a franchise of the Metal Supermarkets near by. They sell small quanties of all types of metal supplies without any minimum order that most vendors require. There's a franchise near me so I have never tried to order off their website. You can find them at www.metalsupermarkets.com The store I was at stocked spring steel of all different guages and they will cut it to any lenght you want.

I bought a sheet from the local Home Depot and cut it to size with a pair of tin snips. I'm not sure what type of steel it is but is was only a couple bucks and it works great. I was able to get 3 sets from the sheet I bought, and at this price, they're disposable although the first set is still as good as new.

Cheers!

John
