What size you guys use for water based lacquer (I'm using Enduro Var)

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I use Gershon 190 micron for EnduroVar, Colin. I always double strain - once into a clean container, and again when it goes into the gun. Haven't used it for a guitar yet, but use it for kitchens all the time.

is there such a thing as different mesh sizes?

if there are, I am learning something new

I have traditionally used whatever Sherwin Williams (have a 30% off account there) has in stock, and am not aware of any "options" available

either way, the strainer is just for catching any contaminates that may be in the mix before you transfer it to a gun's cup (or pressure pot, whatever) and I'd assume (yeah, a$$-u-me) the only parameter is catching said contaminates (e.g. dust and the like)

For EM6000 I use a gold #4 cone coffee filter. I strain into an empty Talenti salted caramel container remembering to save the lid after having eaten the ice cream. Then just rinse the gold filter, let it dry and put it in a clean baggie for next time. I've been using the same filter for 6 years.

I like their southern butter pecan. Sounds like a good reason to head to the store. ;)
