Does anyone have access to a photo of a jig to resaw thin veneers from a round hardwood circle . I received about 40 1 in thick exotic wood circles most are about 3.5in in diameter. I would like to turn these into future rosettes. A bandsaw jig would be the way to go . Want to saw them to abt 2 mm or 3/32 in. Any one have suggestions pics or resources ?? thanks

Never re-sawed wooden circles into slices but would be tempted to try gluing one to a flat board/block before putting it to a blade.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

That's what I've done to cut slices with my table saw. I cut so that the slice falls to the waste side of the blade, not between the blade and the fence.

If you cut them in half first it would give you a flat side to run against the bandsaw table.

Where did those come from? I'm trying to think who would make a 3.5dia x 1" thick circle. Furniture feet? Turning blank for really small bowls?

More likely "donut holes"

They are from a deceased woodworkers collection. it is a whole circle block . He made furniture. Thanks , for the tips I will try gluing a scrap of paper to a larger block and crosscut them on a small craftsman bandsaw
