May I ask that you share your ideas on what you are giving or hoping to receive this year for the holidays? While a bottle of Old Boiled Socks Rye is my go-to stocking stuffer for the gentlemen here, I'm looking for more in the way of hand tool and luthier-ish ideas.

A simple but often overlooked tool is a scratch awl. Handmade by you and with a nice exotic wood handle it might be a gift that is not too expensive but will be treasured long after "Old Boiled Socks" has evaporated into the mists.

I got garage door insulation and 4 Shop Fox mobile bases for most of the larger tools in the shop. Should be able to easily move everything by myself now in order to seal the floor.

I trained my wife in the proper selection of hardwoods.
She hid a pile under the bed last year. All of the pieces satisfied my lumber desires.
I have a Woodcraft near me, a gift card would be swell.
Harbor Freight has some $3 hand screw clamps that work well. I've collected 20 so far.
Dan

How about a former instrument builder.

If so and although seemingly sacrilegious on this forum on rare occasion I get to service something truly cool and exceptional as to my own personal taste in instruments.... I installed a K&K in one of these last Friday and now want one just as pictured. Collings/Waterloo does vintage G*bson and variants proud..... right down to the squeeze out!

But hey the holidays are really all about having fun with doing cool things for others and that's what I try to do. This week and next two lucky clients will get their bills ripped up as I always do during the holiday season and once a month too. It's great fun by the way and people never see it coming.

Great thread!
