It's good that you have the ability to take that precaution. I take my guitars into situations where I have no choice but to use stands for the periods when I'm not playing and singing. I try really hard to make sure the guitar's back is against a wall or in a corner.

That's because you have talent and can sing. If you heard me sing you would understand why my instruments have no risk of damage from the thundering hoards which, by the way.... will be running in the opposite direction from me....

We are fortunate here in Port Townsend to have pretty consistent RH year-round allowing me to leave my guitars out. I personally prefer the "Off the wall" brand. I do need to find something better for displaying at shows.

For gigging we use a couple of these - been working great for 5 years. Very stable and the headstock is locked in till you lift up the guitar.

Hesh I was being a bit facetious and I do totally accept your point.
The idea of headstocks breaking due to a fall off a stand does suggest that the design is somewhat faulty.

Gore and Gilet say that having the truss rod adjustment at the head end is a great cause of weakness given that it needs a great digging out of material at the highly stressed part of the the neck headstock join.

From your experience as a seious repairer would you say that is the case? Do breaks commonly occur around that truss rod adjustment site?
