Longtime client with arthritis brought me his Taylor. He wanted his frets leveled down to "fretless wonder" dimensions, heavy strings (53 to 13) tuned down to C, with my standard "rock and roll low" setup.

The frets are now .020 high, and were a classic bite in the hindquarters to crown. Action lowered at bridge saddle and nut, neck almost straight. It plays great, sounds great - no buzz.

It took me 2 days to get it right, so there will be an upcharge on this job. Delivering this afternoon - report later.

I miss my '68 Custom LP FW.
It was a dream to play.
I wish I could replicate the frets, but I doubt my skill and tools are good enough to get them low and level. I'll give it a try eventually.

Got a message from the client on my voicemail. At first, I thought it was someone crying. Finally, I realized who it was and that he was thanking me a million times for doing an amazing job. He played it all weekend and just loved it. It was "spot on perfection to play, with perfect intonation". He'd taken it to two different shops in town, and in desperation - turned to me. He said was sorry he'd ever gone elsewhere.

So there you have it.

When I got the guitar, the truss rod was all the way tight with the neck bowed way up. The saddle had 4 thick shims under it, and the nut had 1. It played awful. No wonder he wanted it changed.
