My daughter plays the blues and owns a guitar repair shop in Brooklyn,NY. She just got back from 2 weeks in Cuba and visited guitar players and makers near Havana. She spent time with a group of retired guys who make instruments in the back yard out of chair legs and door panels. She brought along a couple of Stew-Mac fret saws and they are friends for life.

There are 4 types of instruments that they make, and I can't name them, but they expressed a desire to make some ukeleles. They asked my daughter to send them some plans.

Is there a source for inexpensive or even free ukelele plans?

Ed

If the GAL hasn't published them yet, they will soon... detailed plans for three sizes of ukes done by Craig Sullivan, a NEL member who makes some great instruments.

The grellier plans above are good. Stew Mac also has body outlines in their kit manuals. The manuals are available on the site.

I bet getting through TSA with a couple fret saws must have been fun gaah

I wonder if she took some pictures of her adventure? Could she post them here?
