maybe others have some too...

I wish I'd been able to incorporate more natural light into my workshop because
I know nothing about lights and I think it's a big poblem in my process and for some reason I'm thinking sunlight is the only solution. I'd really like to be able to check the work when the sun goes down too. ;)

I sand and check every little bit of the work until I think it's ready to move on and
it has never failed...the minute I put a coating of anything on small scratches/marks start showing
up.
I know I have to start doing something different to correct this problem but lost. If you've been there
and know the way out I could use the advise.

Wetting with naptha so far hasn't worked for me. Maybe the answer is a very bright high wattage light to use only when it's ready to check? [uncle]

Shut the lights off, and use an incandecent inspection lamp, or a flashlight, at a raking angle. Scratches, dents and imperfections will show up easily. Move the light around, and look from all directions, and use a light pencil mark to highlight any spot that needs attention.

Yes- I have the old eyes too.

Alex what a great suggestion that I'll be using...and a relief. I imagined having to spend
for an expensive special light. Thank you.

You're welcomed, Michael. My eyes are getting old as well, but the only time they give me any trouble is when I'm looking for my glasses. gaah

At least you guys don't need a nut bra yet.... :? If interested Google the video about nut bras, I'm not posting it here not wishing to get booted.... :D

Also, since I'm always keen to give attribution, always a good idea.... Olfer Rod True posted this video in the past and it was hysterical!!!! [:Y:] If you like the video Rod gets the credit and if you don't like it feel free to blame me...

OK, what the heck here is a link....

LOL Alex..been there...and when I find them I'm wearing them!

And the bra! Man, talk about things going south! I would never have imagined such a thing.
Why is so hard to forget things I don't want to know about? :)

I've had the same problem, and I've started using a wash coat of shellac when I think I'm done.
It's not that much trouble to sand off, and all the bad spots show.

Thanks Rodger.

Help and options are appreciated.

It's a good feeling knowing
I have things to try with my next build to resolve this issue.
