I have searched and searched yet have not succeeded in tracking down an old topic. It may have been on the old forum and may not have carried over to the new one. The post was about routing binding and purfling channels. Someone recommended the jig at GuitarJigs.com but wanted to read through and see what was posted. Are topics from the old forum not carried over into the search feature or am I just not typing the right keywords? Lord knows I think I tried everything.

The jig you are referring to is Mark Kett's binding cutter. I have one and have only praise to offer for both Mark and his jig. It is very easy to use once you get it set up correctly. Make several test cuts on a flat piece of wood BEFORE using it on your guitar. I also make the first cut, about an inch long, under the fingerboard to make a final test before doing the entire body. Leave the dovetail / neck mortise covered with the side wood before you cut the binding channels as it makes it a lot easier. Bind the body and then saw / route the neck cavity opening. I also use a climb cut on the first pass.

Hi Frank,
I've not used Marks binding jig (All thought I've got the hots to get one!)
Marks a great guy to work with and ever product Ive seen come from his shop has been incredible. I'm getting ready to use my end graph cutting jig this week for the first time, ill post some pics, but I suspect its going to make quick work of a long and usually tedious process.

The archives from the (old) forum are found in the archives section at the top of the page, There will be no carry over.

Lance
