That sunburst is so nice on there. I'm glad you could keep it and just clean the guitar. Are you going to put some fresh electronics in it?

Main thing is to use a wound 3rd string to get the intonation right with the original stepped bridge.

I have it Reassembled and tuned . All that is lacking is pick guard . I have a rattle in the body that I think is that ground wire that attaches to the Tailpiece . I may have to take it back apart and address that . " Minor Issue " Sounds good so far . I will get a video of her being played and post as soon as I can. [:Y:]

Congratulations on a great save, all the way around. I expected it to come out pretty well for you, but this exceeds my expectations. If the rattle is nothing more than the ground wire, you won't have any trouble getting that under control.
You got lucky when you stopped at that sale. You stayed lucky when your cleaning didn't turn up more serious blemishes. Most of all, you did a heck of a fine job maximizing the outcome. I doubt that you'd have any trouble making a replica finger rest for it. Whether you do that or find an original that hasn't crumbled, I hope you'll show us a final picture or two. I think it looks just the way it ought to look, which is to say: "Well used and pretty darned fabulous." I love it!
Patrick

Fabulous work! You couldn't ask for a nicer finish on a "Senior" guitar. I'm gonna have to get me some of that Preservation stuff!

Strung it up and it had a rattle in the electronics , I took them back out to verify it was in electronics and restrung it , no rattle . I put heat shrink tube on ground wire and checked everything else , reinstalled the electronics , tuned it and still had a rattle . gaah [headinwall] [headinwall] grrrrrrrrrrr 1+ hrs later I had my finger in the f hole and touched the Capacitor between the pots and the rattle stopped . I used a small dowel to push it gently slightly bending the wires and rattle went away ! Drive a man to drink !!! [headinwall]

Where did you find the pick guard/finger rest? Not that it matters. The whole thing looks great. Excellent save!

Replacement Pick guards are available for this for $30.00 on ebay . Wish I had an orig. , but not paying that kinda money . The Knobs are replacement , the Pick Guard is Replacement , the Strings are New . As far As I Can Tell , Everything else is Orig.

I think the replacement pick guard is a good idea, not even considering the price. You might have bought an original, but then it might have started crumbling on you, too. I have suffered through the crumbling situation with a pick guard on my father's mandolin. Or...maybe an original would have lasted a good long time. But, in my view, who cares? The one you mounted on the guitar looks appropriate and I think the entire project has had a very good outcome. Even if some of the parts are not original, that axe is better now than when you found it. I realize others might disagree with my opinion, but I don't care. I think it's a great save. I hope I get equally lucky one of these days!
