Had a squier jaguar sitting around and the body was detestable so I made a new one out of pine. Started out looking like:Image
Then the unfinished body:

And after torching it and putting a solid 10+ coats of polyurethane on it I got this:

Lots of amateur mistakes were made but I really like the burned look on it!

2 reasons
1)It was squier so not the best of wood used

2) the finish chipped off every time it was touched :P not very pretty underneath it either. Very fragile

I hadn't found many examples of people burning instead of using any kind of stain so is be interested to see how that came out! It certainly is cheaper. Lol

Pine is said to give a warm tone and I have flatwounds on this thing so I'm going hard on the warm sound. So hard, in fact, that the intensity of the warmness actually seems to have burned the wood. ;D
Admittedly I can imagine pine on a guitar wouldn't be the most beautiful sounding thing.
