I have 2 new projects on the bench : the first is a hard rock maple 14" radius 24 fret neck though with a flame maple fretboard , the top and back are flame maple and the core is lacewood . It will have a light vintage amber finish and EMG PAX / LJPX "Vic Wooten set of pickups and gold hw. My client like to slap and wants it very bright.

The second one is for me , and it is a 24 fret black walnut/ebony neck through with a 10" radius the core is /back is a billet of Claro walnut the top will be a set of Curly koa I've had for a few years . Bartolini soabbar/Jbass in the bridge 3 band eq with a 3 range selectable mid. Gold hw on this one too .

The bodies are cut and glued , will be routing this weekend and fitting the tops .

Got the top glued on to the maple one and rough sanded

brought it over to the client to test fit the ergonomics and he was thrilled :)

It will be his first custom bass and he was surprised at all the unique touches . i.e. asymmetric heel , neck carved to his hand dimensions , body contoured to his leg etc.

He's already thinking of getting another one built !

(updated pic after I finished backsanding)

A working "vacation " from my day job allowed me some time in the shop to work on the basses . added curly maple/ abalone inlay to the maple bass and a flame maple headstock overlay.
Thenrouted the pickup /control cavities on the walnut one and rough cut the curly koa top

Wow! Looking real nice!
The Maple has a very nice color. Is this natural or dyed?

the Maple on the Koa is natural , the maple bass is from the same piece of wood . but it was dyed with "vintage lemonade" then back sanded.

Very cool Thumpers! Like the accent stripe down the center. Nice touch. Also like the use of magnets for the covers instead of screws. I may never go back.
