Exactly...but it's pretty remarkable to observe the glue lines under a microscope. Yes...it's an engineered wood...but it's engineered pretty well, I'd say. :)

I wouldn't presume to say without any acoustic building experience other than what I've gleaned from true luthiers.

Harry Houdini used to be one of my childhood heroes, not necessarily because of his escapes, but because he liked to debunk mystics and mediums. A man after my own heart. I spend a lot of time building stuff to challenge widely held assumptions. The Bamboo appealed to me not simply because of the way it looks (I think it looks very cool) but because it struck me as an unlikely tone wood...a novelty. As I worked it I became more encouraged that it would produce a fairly lively instrument. The warm tone of the guitar IS lively...which is to say that when I say "warm" I don't mean "dead". Even so...I wouldn't try to extrapolate any observation I've made to an acoustic instrument.

Me had no idea that there were false luthiers out there...Please define "true luthiers" for us.

Oh and me sure do like them oval fretboard markers. Them is real sweet.

"True luthier" ... someone who knows quite a bit more about building acoustic instruments than me.

oh i agree, it is beautiful and somewhat of a technical marvel. i have been fascinated by it since some japanese friends presented my family with a high quality mah jong set when i was young. i wouldn't hesitate to use it for a solidbody guitar, for aesthetic or acoustic reasons, and you said it tooled well enough, so that sounds like a green light to me

Hey Stuart, this is a real sweet guitar here, it kind of evokes a feeling out of the sixties or something but more like the architectural look than how guitars looked back then of course. I really, really like the control knobs and actually think they are the nicest looking knobs I've ever seen (why do I have a feeling I'm gonna catch a whole lot of grief over that line, lol). I'd be interested to see a look at the internal configuration, though I'd understand if you're keeping that under wraps.

John, I have some new, lower profile knobs on the way. They'll be black anodized with silver trim. I can't wait to see how they'll look but I expect they'll add something to the party. :)

The guitar as pictured weighs 5 lbs. 5.4 oz. which makes me happy since it's only a half a pound heavier than a Parker Fly.

It balances at fret 22 which is right where the other chambered guitars balance.

I haven't put strap button on this one yet but it will balance perfectly on the strap.

Bamboo is great for fences on tools. It is not always easy to tool the end grain though, it can really blow out on you.
