A friend asked me if i coukd make a new body for an SG from 1987: the original one broke after falling from in the neck pocket.

I've got the new body almost finished but since he neck is at angle from the body and its such a small portion of the neck glued to the body, i'm a bit afraid to use normal glue even with the tighest fit can achive. I know that its suposed to use wood glue, but will it be strong enough? I'm using Titebond original.

Also epoxi glue it would be fit and forget

Any help or tips here would be much apreciated .

It's pretty common for SGs to crack at the neck joint and even more common for SGs and LPs to get head stock breaks. Anyway Titebond Original is fine for the neck joint on an SG. Since you are building a new body for it it might be fun to try to reengineer that joint a bit against future failure. Not an engineer here but they do exist on this forum.

Epoxy would work too but is not necessary if you have a decent fit. Personally epoxy would never be my choice for a neck joint for other reasons either.

Not to be a nag but check your date code on the Titebond too and make sure that it's not old.

Hesh dropped an important one on you..."decent fit". It's hard to overstate that point.

If it's an indecent fit, then epoxy it. Titebond is made for properly fitted joints...as in: don't depend on it to fill gaps...at all...

Since this will be my first set neck, i am a bit afraid of the "indecent fit", anyway i feel confident as my skills have evolved and also my patience has magically appeared. tks for the above replys, will try to post some pictures of the (re)buid
