Hi all
I hope all are well! Is the neck pocket on a tele and start flat? And am I right to assume that neck angle depends on the type of bridge used so that the action stays the same from the first fret to the last?
Thank you all!!
Mike

Michael, I tape my bridge to the body and check that the fretboard is parallel to the line formed from the nut to the top of the bridge saddles. I lay a straight edge from the top of the frets to the bridge saddles. I'll cut the pocket deeper or increase the angle if need be. I set a thin spacer under the bridge to raise it a tad so it can be lowered during setup.
I calculate the neck pocket depth but it helps to do a mockup since my calculations never seem to work.
Happy Holidays to you as well,
Dan

Dan, that makes sense to me as I have seen the calculations that need be done and being a true amateur at building it is confusing. I'm sure the more I build it will come to me.
Filippo, I think I understand. So on a tele body if I leave the fretboard a little more proud than normal do I need to have an angle of some degree? I'm not sure I understand.
Thank you all for your time!
Mike

Just to be clear I'm talking about a flat bodied guitar. I'm trying to keep this build as simple(if there is such a thing) as possible. You guys have my mind working lol. I have so many ideas that I want to try. I have a feeling I am hooked already and I've only just begun. Haha
Thanks!!!
Mike
