Hahahaha, you sir, do not understand me. And I'm happy about that.

Actually you're not really that hard to understand.

If somebody posts a guitar and asks for criticism, they have no right to get their panties in a bunch when they get it.

I don't see that happening here.

I also don't see anyone asking for spoon-feeding.

Once again, obviously don't get it.
Also, I see you have opinions. And you think they're correct. Just image what I think about mine?! laughing6-hehe
We're never gunna see eye to eye dude. And that makes me happy.
Chris

Actually, I appreciate the sentiment of what you say, but I just don't see that happening this thread.

It just looks like you enjoy pushing buttons and being a dick.

So it's true I don't see eye to eye with people like that, and that makes ME happy. [:Y:]

I also think it's interesting that when the guy asked you about why the drama, your response was to talk about other posters, who haven't yet posted on this thread, when the drama is CLEARLY you.

I know you're a young man yet.

You'll figure it out eventually.

I see you changed "is" to "it". THAT makes more sense.

Although, you edited your comment! oops_sign

I thought you never did that?

I'm glad you did though.

[clap]

Anyways, hows your labor day weekend going?

I apologize TGW, next time I won't use such big words. Eradicate means to get rid of. Existence is when something still "is." Controversial is a just a fancy word for "stuff TGW doesn't agree with." So I said I don't get rid of my posts, especially the parts people disagree with, just cause they're disagreed with.
Never said I don't edit for grammar, typos, etc.
Chris

Drop is Chris!

Wait that sounds stupid. I better leave a snarky comment when somebody scratches their head!

I thought you were lecturing me on the definition of "is", when you were the one mis-using it, typo though it was.

Since when do you joke around with me?

Let me know next time.

I thought this thread would be about carving, something I am interested in, hot some adolescent argument. Please keep in mind the integrity of this forum.

Man, you're right! So much information? I wonder if there's any forums out there with experienced people that can help me make sense of it?

I went to this one forum where about 4 people only wanted people who already knew what they were talking about to participate.

Some guy posted a video, which, after I watched it, prompted me to ask a followup question. The guy carved me a new one, saying that I should have done my research before watching his video and asking a question!

It wasn't fun.

Apparently his friends think he's justified 'cuz I'm just a dumb noob with no business trying to pick their minds.

Good thing I'm on THIS forum, with helpful friendly people!

using a drill press and "safety planer" or whatever you call it is not "hand carving"...which is the title of this thread. so i don't understand why the videos are even posted, and ich going on about said videos and google searches.
carve the neck pocket first, get a 3/4" or 1" u-gouge(ideally a few, with deeper/shallower radiuses) and some scrapers, and go to town. your knuckles will bleed a bit(especially if its maple), but you will have a "hand carved" top in a week's time max, half hour a day

I don't know....LMGTFY is six, SIX entirely different letters. Never mind the "www" the "com" and those two dots. I think, and no offense meant to you Todd because I really do appreciate you cutting out over 16,000 steps, that I am going to wait to ask any further questions until Lance gets some sort of direct interface with my brain set up on this site. I just can't handle all of the tedious typing of so many different letters. Maybe I'm just lazy, or maybe I am waiting, patiently mind you, for the cool stuff I was promised on TV. Transporters, food replicators, other futuristic stuff. A world where people all get along and work towards the betterment of all man kind, where money is useless(at least it seems to be. I have never seen anyone buy anything on Star Trek. They just seem to get stuff when they need it.) A futuristic utopia if you will. My fingers are bleeding from all of this typing already, so I better go put them on ice until the future arrives.

Hey theguitarwhisperer. Maybe you can get a mentor on how to build guitars and then he can step in and try to fight your battles for you.

you know now that i sit here and think a little about my last post. I have to apologize. I could edit it but seeing how that is in question on this thread I wont. but I do find it funny how the new interface shows stars on different topics and this is the one with the highest rating. On the first page anyways. Kind of shows the maturity of SOME of the old growth in the forum. I simply asked a question and got an answer I didnt like. Called him out on it and we got over it. I dont understand why ppl want to continue a battle that will never been won. Some agree with my point of view. Other agree with Chris. Either or its only an opinion. Like my father use to say "opinions are like a$$holes every one has one. "

honestly it seems like futzing around drawing all those contour lines and using a dangerous and comparatively unpredictable power tool would be more inefficient.....but my perspective is for one-off projects, for pleasure, not production or getting paid. i just don't approve of "paint-by-numbers" when the phrase "hand carved" is employed. i maintain: safety planing is not hand carving.
