Just got a Benedetto S-6 mini-humbucker. One wiring diagram came with the pickup, Another wiring diagram is available on the Seymour Duncan website (they make the S-6).
One diagram shows all the signal going through the volume pot and then splitting between the jack and the tone pot. The other diagram shows the signal splitting at the input to the volume pot and going to the tone pot. What's the diff?

I'd have to see both schemes diagrammed but chances are that they do exactly the same thing on such a simple setup. I'm assuming it's one pickup...no switches.

The simplest wiring in that scenario has the hot from the pickup going to the input on the volume and a shunt from that same contact going over to the tone. Then the output of the volume goes to the tip contact on the jack. Tie and isolate the coils together and then ground everything else.

Oddly, Seymour Duncan doesn't consistently color code it's wiring form model to model. Sometimes the black is hot and on other models the red is. So make sure you tie the right ones together and identify the hot on that model before you wire.

You're right...very simple setup: two output wires (ground and signal); no switch; 1 volume and 1 tone control. The only difference between the two diagrams is that the shunt to the tone pot is either before or after the volume pot and what difference, if any, that makes.
