The Dueling Dragons was sold today for $17k USD - not too shabby for a first time build - and half way through the build, I started posting the adventure on this forum!

I also sold my #5 guitar today and 2 other builds are being delivered to my dealer next week.... it's funny where life can take you sometimes... you never know where the next opportunity is...

Should have left the cracks in the back... looks like a dragon's claw tore at it!

I got my inlay from DePaule as well (www.luthiersupply.com for those looking for incredible quality inlay material). I find their pricing excellent for the quality!

Hey! Thanks everyone!

This has been all very exciting news - the inlay is one of my favorite aspects of the build, but equal(probably more) time went into making the guitar would play correctly and feel right... it takes quite some time to get a feel for guitars and through the 37 or so years of playing I know what I was looking for in a guitar and was able to accomplish it from help via these forums, on the phone and in person with other builders. This is actually my new career now - the guitar builds income surpassed the income from teaching guitar, which has now become a part-time job on the side.

I apologize for not posting on this forum for so long - I work up to 80 hours a week in between the marketing, other woodworking, designing and building guitars - you can always visit http://www.virgilguitars.com to see what I am up to and I do post daily on my Virgil Guitars FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Virgil-Guitars/301928449849294.

Thanks again everyone!

I know, right?
There's been allot of times during the journey I have found myself having to make smaller, affordable things to sell, just to afford some sandpaper, and well, you know!

It's cool for cars, but not on guitars.
However - it's great for tools such as clamps, etc.

I must echo the other folks - you set your goals high and are going for it!

Interesting... I've been involved in rehab for years (my main occupation), and the work Arthur Jones did with MedX equipment and the studies that came out of Gainsville U. Small world.

Speaking of the weather status in Denmark in the 60's!

Nothing like staying on topic! [clap]

Yes, on topic... you made reference to Gainesville U in FL. Never talked about the weather. Nonetheless, incredible guitar for a first attempt. Makes me wonder what you could accomplish with another 5-10 years in the business.

It's all euphoric and I know it sounds crazy, but totally unexpected. This all started with a dare from a guitar student of mine's father, who is a master cabinet maker... He saw me make a couple trussrod covers and a couple small boxes and talked me into building a guitar back in 2010. I knew if I were to build my OWN guitar, I wanted to pimp it out with something spectacular.... after learning inlay for about 3 months, I started the build. I found out that I have a compulsive obsessive behavior when it comes to sandpaper, sanding, cutting wood, inlay. So for almost 2 years I have been working (if one were to call IT that...) 60 to 80 hours a week.

So yes, I am following my ever-changing dreams (Been doing that for almost my entire life!)

Fact is...I accused Virgil of something publicly and although he deserves a public apology...when had cause to see me humbled he declined...as a gentleman would.

I do apologize, Virgil. No excuses. Won't happen again.

Happy Thanksgiving!

What a long, strange trip it's been...
Today I got my issue of September 2013 Guitar World, and they have a full-page feature on The Dueling Dragons!
Cool stuff [:Y:]
