Sweet headstock! I know nothing about banjos other than my dad plays one. My dad had his grandmothers banjo and recently shipped it to the Zachary Museum in NC for display. The bridge was a prince albert tobacco can!

Yep, I grew up in Austin in the 60's. What a cool place to be in that time.
Your builds are mind-boggling.

I dig mandolins too - I don't play but I apprecitate their beauty.

Thanks guys.

The Les Paul will have Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59's. I'm a newbie player but my experienced friends all like the '59's & felt I couldn't go wrong.

Thanks Robbie for doing the thoroughly documented build of your Les Paul - I couldn't have gotten this far without it. It was the detailed instruction manual. I didn't understand the top angles until I read through your build.

To Mark Sweeney: That's a great looking guitar! Normally, solid bodies don't do much for. I'm more of an arch top jazz box fan. But your guitar is making me think that I want one just like it!

To All others: Great looking stuff, everyone. You're all a constant source of inspiration for me.

Thats really cool - I dont think Ive ever seen a cf guitar in the process of being built.... Do you have any documented build threads? Id really lovge to see one come together from the ground up - mabye if you have the time youd consider posting a build doc (if you havent already) If you have here or even on another site please point me in the right direction?
Everyone else stellar stellar work as always - OLF can go up against any other forum with respect to build quality...
Cheers

Still working on what I call my Faux Acoustic. Most would call it a Stage Acoustic, I would think.
Sitka top, white ash back, with a flamed maple neck and rosewood 'board.

James, I think that is pretty exciting. And I love the fact that you left that knot in the back treble horn.
I am not generally interested in electric guitars, but every now and then I see one that gets me going. Yours is one of at least two I have seen in this thread. Glad you posted it. Nicely done! You guys all do such interesting, inspiring work.

Very nice James! I especially like the binding - the thin line just outlines the body without looking bulky.
Your joinery skills are pretty dang good!

Here are some pics from my first build ever.

Fret board is inlayed, tapered sanded, and bound:

Body pieces are almost ready to glue on, need to do a roundover on the back first. Will be covered with an African padouk top:

Neck has been shaped down to around fret 18 or so:

A close-up of the volute:

And after applying veneer to the back, the front will have to wait a while:

And just to mix it up a little, it was a huge year for apples:

Nice Jim!
If my 7th looks half as good as your first, I'll be pretty happy.
Thanks for posting,

Thanks, Alan.
We got through the storm very well. We live in a trailer, and there are lots of trees around, so when the winds get really bad, everything on me tightens up, lol. I'm happy to say we suffered no damage, thank God, although we do have some cleanup.
As to the Faux Acoustic, I'm waiting until I can get the money to order a bridge pin reamer, along with a few other items. I hope to have it completed in a couple of weeks. I'll post pics and soundclips when I do.
