I wonder how do you clean chrome parts, specifically those stains cause by fingerprints and / or sweat.

Flitz. Amazing stuff. Get it online or at a boating supply store. It will make metal, plastic, paint etc look great. Non abrasive but works amazingly well. I polish my frets with it.

Please note that I want to clean the parts (pick-ups) assembled on the guitar.
I've seen that Flitz do not attack plastic but will it be not suitable for gloss polyester finishes?
I want to prevent any eventual contact of the cleaning product with the guitar finish.

Thats a good question. I used it to remove some overspray on a vintage Mustang with no damage to the paint. I would contact the company. I am sure they would be happy to help. Or, you could test how it reacts with the finish in an area that is out of sight.
You could also use some blue painters tape to cover the finish around the pick ups.
It does not leave a stain on the bare wood when I get some on the fret board and I suspect that if you are not rubbing the finish with the Flitz, for example, a little gets on the finish while cleaning the rest of the pick ups and such, it would not mark the finish, but again, test, test, test.
