Hi All,
Well, I finally finished my web site and documentary film that explains everything that went wrong, but how it was overcome in this documentary I made after the completion of the "Dueling Dragons" guitar. This should close the chapter on this subject that you are probably more sick of than me - good news though, yesterday and today I was working on my second guitar, which should take 2 years to complete! (Just kidding) Anyways - if any of you have made any documentaries on your guitar builds, PLEASE post them in your replies - would love to see what else is out there.

Make some popcorn Eat Drink - this is 40 minutes total it's broken up in 3 parts below- should I pitch it to A&E? LOL - Thanks, Virgil

Part 1/3

Part 2/3

Part 3/3

Great videos, I like the narrator.
Thanx for letting me be a part of the journey!

Thanks Charles!
A few years back I came up with that name while doing some other filming and it "Stuck". (LOL) That narrator was a local DJ here in Tampa that I have been friends with for some time now- I KNEW he would be perfect! Thank YOU for helping out at the 11th hour (Coincidentally, that WAS when it finally played correctly!)

Thank you Kim - it has been quite an amazing story - I thought I was just going to wind up with a piece of art, but you can imagine how I felt when I plugged it in and getting that thing to play after such a long time. Unforgettable would be the word that sums it up!

That was pretty cool, Virgil. Talk about a total experience :D . I'm having a difficult enough time just remembering to snap a few pics here and there during my build.

Great job, dude [:Y:]

Thanks Alan, yeah I would say most of us do that here on the forum in some form or another - it makes lutherie so interesting - there's so much at risk when doing all these things, right? I'm addicted to this already, but I still gotz allot to learn. Somebody give me some sandpaper - NOW!

You are quite the multi-talented man, Virgil! Impressive video editing skills on top of the drawing and guitar building and other woodworking and such. Great idea with the narrator to describe it all from 3rd person perspective. Is he a hired pro, or do you just happen to have a friend with "the narrator voice"?

Very cool getting to hear the backstory leading up to the project, and the various things that went terribly wrong but turned out just fine (although I had seen most of them live in the build thread). Congrats on having the guts to move forward, rather than scrapping stuff and redoing every time a problem came up. Or should that be shame on you for being too lazy to fix a mistake "properly"? :P

P.S. Thanks for the shoutout! Glad I could be of help.

Hahaha! Thanks Dennis - I was wondering when you were going to stumble on your name on the video! You saved the guitar for sure - that fretwork was not something I advise a rookie (like myself) to undertake ESPECIALLY on the first build, but after your suggestion, it went as smooth as butter. Because of my finances & resources I was forced to work with what I had and that was not an easy task.... at the end of the day, it's a pretty awesome guitar and I did what I did to get where I got - the narrator is a friend of mine and a professional - I actually used to do voice-overs for radio and television back in the day, but needed a different voice, so Randy rocked on this film - he was at my release party and people got a kick out of him, he was doing a narrative with people at the party, like "Todd is about to have a hamburger" - funny as sh@# laughing6-hehe And hey - all mistakes were fixed properly according to the committee that resides in my head laughing6-hehe - Thanks again Dennis!

Awesome guitar for a seasoned luthier but especially so for a first build. The inlay is incredible. I've been a woodworker for 40 some odd years and one thing I learned a long time ago. They aren't mistakes, they're design opportunities. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.

Hi Carl! Thanks so much man - yeah I hear ya - we kept on running into obstacles, so after a while, I was seeing how to implement the changes somehow to make everything look "intentional" LOL - Appreciate ya checking it out - Keep your eyes on the second build "The Silver Willow" here: http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10123&t=33070
