well this is my variant of famed single cutaway, i call it the "Vixen". this has been more or less finished for a few months but i just haven't put up photos. the dimensions are fairly traditional as far as your les-paulish guitars are concerned, (i think this guy is somewhere around 12 1/2 inches across the lower bout) but there are some definite design differences though, some are obvious and others a little more subtle. probably the most obvious thing is the cutaway which i made quite a bit deeper than average and i have really come to like that quite a bit. the other major change which may not pop out quite as much to some people is in the waist. i tried to draw out the curves and make them less abrupt, which may not be to some peoples taste but i like it. this is not the final design for this body style, its going to get a make over in the upper bout as well before i make a template for it. i am working on a 16" variant of this design that will be my first acoustic. hopefully i'll be starting on it this spring

this one is made all out of maple and walnut since i have an abundance of it, the wings are top with some burl. its got a couple of gfs dream 180's in it which i really like a lot, they seem to be very good pups. please let me know what you think!

Seriously Shad, slow down. It's way too hard to keep up with you! In all seriousness, that's a great spin on an LP. I'm a big fan of bodies with center stripes like that. I'm working on one right now with that same style. Picture is below. Maple top/back with wenge center stripes. Mahogany body. Boring wood combination as far as I'm concerned, but I had it all lying around.

Anyway, back to your guitar. Very nicely implemented. Did you relic the bridge and tailpiece like on your other build?

thanks gabby, i the bridge and tailpiece are antiqued on this one, but i didnt do it myself though. i fond these on ebay last summer and just really liked the finish on them it was called "antiqued bronze" unfortunately i couldnt find tuners anywhere that would match so i just went with black. go figure as soon as i bought them i found a supplier selling tons of antiqued parts with that finish. o well. this one was actually a neck through originally (which is the reason for the center strip) but i screwed up the neck real bad... went way to thing with it. so i had to take the hack saw to it and cut that neck off. few thing have hurt me to do so much as that.. but it was worth it for then end result.

also, i dig the guitar you're working on, you have some really unique style in your bodies which i appreciate. i get tired of seeing the same old stuff all the time. its refreshing to see something new.

Schaller makes antique bronze hardware ( tuners,bridges,tailpieces etc.) . Its on their web but nobody sells them.

I like! It's very similar to a design I've been working on for a chambered single cut. But it'll probably be next year before i start. Beautiful work!
