hey, here's my idea.
a hollow body lap steel, built like a heavy acoustic, ( thick top and back, about 5/32),
25 foot radius, about 2 inches thick, with 2 humbuckers, splitable to single coil,
acoustic type pin bridge, with a baggs saddle pickup.
do ya think it might feedback too much with the humbuckers?
oh, it would have 2 output jacks, so it would be stereo.
an everything electric, and would sound a little bit acoustically as well.
i think it's a great idea, and i don't care if somebody other than i did this.
i will do it eventually, after all the other crazy ideas i come up with.

Well hollow body lap steels are not a new idea. There are not many things that haven't been tried in the guitar building community. Don't let this idea being original hold you back from doing it...Mike.

Sorry to see that your idea wasn't completely original, but remember you can always take it a whole new way. That sunburst lap steel down there would look awesome with violin style appointments, like the way the tops and backs overhang and whatnot, and of course get some violin varnish goin on there. Ugh my head hurts
