I am building a solid body lap Steel for the first time and using a bridge Humbucker Pickup, I dont know anything about the specific location of where to locate it's exact position in relation to how far from bridge or neck and how far under the strings ect, are there specific measurements for pickup location or can you place them wherever you want?? any help and tips on the Lap Steel would be greatly appreciated.

hi. i've built several elec laps,
and i just put the pickup close to the bridge.
i don't think it matters much.
i do put the neck p-u right on the harmonic spot, and like the way it sounds there.
most don't have a second pick-up on a lap,
but that's the one i use most when playing.
as far as how close to the strings?
as close as you can,
but remember, the bar will deflect the strings, so if they hit the pickup, lower it.
