I am kicking around building a solid body 1 piece neck/ body electric "Base" mandola
4 string . I have hard maple large enough to do this in a mandola size . I have down loaded diadarrio scale specs and string sizes chart . Any Suggestions would be helpfull . Basically it is a Mini Base

Ever been done ? is there a thread of one I can look at ? Am I totally nuts? ok scratch that last one , I am

There is a builder on this forum who has done similar, but I can't remember his name at the moment. Basically, his thought is "Build whatever I can.", thinking that every build will teach him something and take him farther down the road as a builder. I can't argue with that. Do it. If nothing else, you're bound to learn something. MHO.

It's been done many times. I think the general consensus is that it has a certain "cool" factor as it pertains to looks (if looked at closely) , but doesn't help with sound which seems to be what some are looking for. It does contribute considerably to the difficulty of the build.
