But I am finally getting somewhere. I had to remove the top once I realized it was completely and hopelessly missaligned. But the upside is better rosettes. There are downsides, but I will not point them out.

Very cool...and you have a guitar model ala Vanna White. :)

Those types of instruments just blow me away. I saw some what I would describe as "crazy instruments" (only because I wonder how [i]anyone[i] knows how to play them) at this music store in Seattle, near Pikes Place Mkt. I was blown away. Then I saw Fred...and I'm sorry I can't recall his last name...at Healdsburg. I just thought how amazing. The amount of time that goes into a project like that.

Good job.

It has been a tough learning experience. The existing plans are skimpy at best. So I have to experiment. Made a horrible mistake with the top alignment and had to take it off. That was a blessing in disguise since the rosettes sucked and the tap tone was dead. When I put the palm sander to the top now, it is VERY loud.

Very cool Mike.
I first saw Steve Bennett at Winfield about 5 years ago and was just blown away.
In the past he has hosted a group of Harp Guitarist at Winfield, WOW

Do you play harp guitar?
Did you have plans to work from?

I keep thinking I want to try building one!

Dave,

You can find all you need to know at www.harpguitars.net. Plans, advice, strings, etc. I am known there as slackkeymike. No, I have never played one, but that is about to change.
