hey everyone,
I built a couple of acoustics a few years back but no electrics yet, however I am going to start my first electric and a bass soon bliss
what are good books on building a les paul style guitar? and a bass?

I don't know about books persay...but there are great deal of good plans out there if you want an exact copy...Other than that I am not of much help...

I kinda went at it by trial and error...

Yeah, I am going to get a set of plans, this is not an exact copy by any means, but I want to use the same electronics set up and construction method ie. arched top, neck joint etc.
Mostly what i need to know aside from actual wiring is body construction, specifically the electronics related parts...
And of course it would be great to have a book for reference throughout the build... that coupled with this amazing forum and I should be smokin' along in no time!

In melvin hiscock book he builds a set neck. It more a double cut away but it gives you the method to build in this style. I don't know of any books specific to les pauls. I always wondered why though. But stew mac sells a 52 les paul blueprint. It has p-90 pickups but that wouldn't be hard to alter. It is a quite good plan. ...Mike
