Hi all,

I just wired up a guitar with 2 Seymour Duncan HB's, (sh-2 neck, sh-4 bridge) It has 1 volume, 1 tone and a 5 way rotary from Stew Mac. I used the wiring diagram from here http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/WDUHH5R1101. According to the diagram, it is supposed to give 1. Bridge Humbucker, 2. Outer Coils Parallel, 3. Outer Coils Series, 4. Inner coils parallel, 5. Neck humbucker. What it seems to have given me is instead of the inner and outer coils, it gave me the pole and screw coils respectively. So, with the bridge outer coil, you get neck inner coil. Now, this all is assuming I understand what inner and outer mean, and I take that to mean relative to the 2 pickups, I.E. Inner coils are the 2 coils to the inside of the pickups. When I realized what this had given me, I checked another guitar also wired with Seymour Duncans but with a 5-way mega switch P model from stew mac that is supposed to give the same options, only in a standard looking 5-way switch. A couple minutes taping on coils and it gives the exact same thing as the rotary switch. I have never actually owned a PRS to know exactly what the switching is, but I am trying to figure out what I am not getting here. The diagram does show both pickups with the screw and pole pieces the same way, but obviously when you put them in the guitar, bobbins with the poles go to the inside. So, is this the way the switching is supposed to be, or am I screwing something up. thanks

Nevermind, I found my answer. apparently because of the polarity, you have to flip the bridge pickup, or swap the polarity of the magnet in order to get this wiring.
