After thinking about it for a few weeks, here are the jigs and photos of a way to make a Spanish neck/peghead joint with a bandsaw and disc sander and a way of making slot heads.
Here are the 5 jigs needed...

First is a jig to cut the shoulders...

In use...

Next are the two jigs to cut the angles. they must have the same but opposite angle. The jig and workpiece both slide through the saw...


The other side being cut...


Next is the jig to sand the angle on the peghead...

Here is the setup to cut the V in the headstock. Note the angled carriage that holds the headstock. I recommend clamping the whole assembly together...

Here's how I do the slot head...
Holes are drilled for the tuners...


The outside ears are sliced off..


First the short cuts are made...


Then the long cuts. It takes a few passes and you have to flip it over a couple of times to get the stock to the fence...

Glued up. Here's the trick. Leave the bandsaw marks and you will be able to hide the joints very well. You can insert dowel pins into the tuner holes to keep things centered...

Using the angle jig, glue up the neck and headstock...

Here's a close up of the glue joint on the slot head...

Nothing strange about slots for the side, but I have to say you are just plain cheating in regards to the slotted peghead.

Haans, so in the second to last picture you have a peghead that has no holes drilled in it. Did you use a different technique for it or why did you decide to drill the holes in the traditional way?

True, but if the intent is for squared edged slots, your method it simpler than chiseling out the slot as a whole.

Ricardo, you can do it either way, but if you drill them later, you have to put some inserts into the slots so you don't get tear out.
I don't have a smart answer for cheating... ...if it's square slots I want (and I do) I'll cheat.

Actually the quick method should work for rounded ends too, just make the slots appropriately shorter then use a file or maybe a drill press.

Alexandru, it also might be possible to drill the end holes first and then saw off the ears and make the long cut on the middle part. You would have to be very careful to get the sawcuts right. My original idea was to save a lot of time by not having to square out round end slots.

Me like your slotted head cheat! Joint is indeed just about invisible, and ya gotta wonder if the glue line there isn't stronger than the natural wood. John Greven has a demo on his site for a different, perhaps stronger seeming, version of the volute joint. Click on extras, then 'bird's beak demo'. Pretty cool.
