Greetings,
I'm ready to finish a Beard roundneck kit. Neck's no problem but the plywood body has rather unattractive grain on the veneer, plus I accidently sanded through the thin outer veneer in a few places truing up the sides for binding and scraping the binding. It takes stain unevenly and looks bad. You guys ever just use a primer (like that shellac based white B.I.N stuff Zinsser makes) to cover the grain and spray color coats and clear over that?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Terry

Use the zinsser seal coat shellac and ad some universal pigment in the color wanted. Add as much as you want until you achieve the opacity required ( try it on a sample). Then go to your standard finish schedule.
