Been there...done it!!!

But I never get tired of seeing John Hall...and I really want to meet Todd and the rest of the dudes on the east coast!

I can't commit yet, but I do know that I won't do it in a round trip in one day.

I would love to come if newbies are allowed (newbie builder, player for 30 yrs). I would love to meet John and the rest.

I live in South NJ (outside Philly), and wouldn't mind giving any lifts.

Thx!

Glenn

Thanks John, we appreciate your generosity. And thanks Todd for getting the ball rolling. If the creeks don't rise between now and then, I'll be there. [clap] [:Y:]

Count me in! I'll have to see if I can get the next guitar strung up - maybe then someone can offer an opinion on why my classical guitar G strings are a little weak/dull.

I'll ask John if there is anything I can bring as the date get's closer. If anyone near northern Delaware or in the Chester County area would like a ride, give a shout.

what demos are we looking at presenting? Suggestions: French polishing, spray finishing, voicing, double mortice and tenon neck joinery (one for Sylvan, is he considering coming?) Binding headstocks, jigs & jig making, design geometry & layout, marketing, photography, Critiquing, etc. (I'd be happy to offer constructive criticism regarding fit, finish, design, playabilty, set-up, etc. Small fee per instrument)

I'd suggest getting a tv monitor while videotaping. (Chris V. ?) Guys in back would be able to see (inlay) demos. Avoid crowding.

My first guitar was so ugly I have never even put strings on it. (I've been meaning to reset the neck forever). Maybe a demo from someone about steaming loose a neck joint?

I'd be glad to serve as note-taker and help put an article together. I figure I won't be the one doing much of the demo-ing so it would be a good use of my time.

Jim

Hi Jim,
Post about the neck removal closer to the event. I have the steamer, needle, and neck removal jig. I am sure John does too, Martin fan that he is. That'd be a great demo, and you can get the neck reset started too. That'll get you over the first speed bump & encourage you on the neck angle reset.

I'm going to try to work it out to go to this, in spite of the fact that I have gigs lined up for both the night before and that same night. If I can't get out of my Sat night gig, I'll have to leave the open house early. The good news is it's only 3 1/2 hours drive for me.

Todd--I love your subtle prods to try to get me out of my hermit's lair

Got the OK to attend from the boss yesterday, schedule's cleared etc., so I definitely plan on attending.

I'd be happy to demo a neck reset. Or, I could do a French polish demo. Or a template-based rosette-making demo. Or ... ???

I'd also be really happy just being an anonymous face in the crowd, too!

Regardless, I'll be there. John--thanks very much for hosting! I look forward to seeing you and the "gang" again ...

Jim

I would love to see a french polish demo. Then again, as a new 1st time builder, every topic would be good to see .

Since I can not contribute in the "show and tell" part, John/Todd, if there is anything administrative or anything else that I can do to help, please let me know.

Thanks!

Glenn

James - I'd LOVE to see a rosette making demo...

I'll re-iterate - anybody in the CT/NH/VT/MA/RI areas that want to ride on down with me, PM me and lets set it up. I already have one pickup along the way (right Jody?) and would just a soon make a carpool out of it.

A few things off the top of my head I'd love to see demos of:

Epoxy pore-filling.

French polishing.

Fine points of set-up (e.g. slotting and ramping bridge pin holes, nut slots, etc - getting these things exactly right with efficiency and finesse).

Some kind of overview of steps involved in constructing and binding/purfling florentine cutaways and body bevels.
