Ok, so here is my attempt at creating ONE BIG LIST of documented problems.

Here is how I think it will work best. Please, help us keep this thread clean. Once a problem has been reported, please don't continually jump in to say "me too" unless you have uncovered something different.

When posting a problem please tell us the OS, Browser, and versions you are using. That may help pin point the problems.

1. We know about the log in problems. They are working on it.
2. We know some of you didn't get an email with a password. We are thinking about how to best handle this.

Just to be clear on the log in problems I and others are having...

I can log in with the given password, but when I get there, the system says "there are no forums on this board".

I then cannot change my password, but I can update my profile.

I do not have rights to make a signature

FYI - My initial login name is mgcain

Is it odd that I got two emails for passwords? I used the second one and was able to log in.

The site looks great by the way! Keep up the good work.

one problem and one complaint

I still cant see you tube clips

I can barly read the topic headings on the main form page. the bold text is really fuzzy

Can you screen shoot what you mean by "fuzzy"

Also, what monitor resolution are you using?

I never received an email with my new password and I get the message:
The e-mail/username information submitted could not be found.
when I try to re-submit.
When I try to use my original username to submit a post, I get a message that says that that username is already in use. So, the system knows my username but doesn't seem to know my email. I tried an old email, the one I probably used to register a long time ago, and it did the same thing.

Brock, This is probably not a problem with the forum but this is what I ran into this a.m., Took a while before I was able to get back in.

I would suggest that a link be put on the old site pointing here. Many will have bookmarked the old site using luthiersforum.3element.com as the URL and won't realize that this new version of the software is at a different address. Even though the new address is clearly stated in the password e-mail, it took me a while to find my way here. I've just checked and there were still a few members logged in at the old site.

That was a beauracratic problem, not a technical one.

That is fixed now. We shouldn't see that one again.

I have set the main discussion forum as my home page. When I try to return to the forum after closing the browser, it tells me that the forum doesnt exist. I have to go back to the welcome page and re-login in order to get back here. All is well when I do log back in though.

This probably ought to be way down on the priority list this early on, but the Online / Offline graphic matches all the other buttons (Profile, Quote, Reply, etc.), but isn't really a button. Seems a bit confusing as it looks like something to be clicked on.

I believe if the letters are green in the button that member is on line if not then they are not logged in

Right you are, Michael. My point is that it looks like a button that would do something when you click it, but it really isn't a button. Seems like more of an indicator.

I was able to log in under my old name FishtownMike but could not view anthing or change anything. i couldn't even see the forums. it told me there where no post in this forum. So i created a new user name and everything works fine so far. mike

I am having the same problem described by others. I can log in fine, but no forums are available on login. I don't want to clutter things up by creating a new account unless that is the advised course of action (so please advise). Otherwise, all looks great!

In addition to the login issues of not being able to see anything while logged in and not being able to change my password, I am having problems as a guest. I cant see any pics that people uploaded as a guest. I believe the only ones I can see are the onles that are just links. I get permissions error in each post. I also cant find the search function anyware.

This is so petty, I hesitate to even mention it, but did you get MichaelP to type the buttons? I noticed that the "Reply" button in the "private message" box says "Replay". This is not a priority, and should be left until peoples log in problems are fixed, or never, even, though I would guess it's one of the easy ones to fix.

Brock-

1-Guests can post messages (yesterday, anyway).

2-The 'central group' of links from the old page has been eliminated- this was the 'Active Topics- PM- etc group. This was 'Navigation Central' for the old OLF, for me. Can't understand why you dumped it.

3- There are now only 25 topics per page in the listings; the old version had 50.

4-There is no obvious way to even navigate to the PM area.

5- There is no way to get an organized listing of Active Topics across all the Discussion Forums, with the time window specified. This worked really well in the old version.

6- No 'Home' link anywhere- this was a defect in the old version that I'd hoped would be fixed.

7-Bigger avatars and less room for text and pictures?? This makes sense?

I recall Hesh implying online (months ago) that this version was was being extensively 'beta tested' with some of the 'inner circle'- "Wait til you see it - you're gonna love it" , etc... The 'Title' on every page : "TEST SITE Oct 2007" implies that this has been 'refined' for at least 3 months.
This is hard for me to believe, though perhaps I was the only one that wasn't hungering for more 'glitz' and less content and functionality on every page.

A couple replies...

3 - I like it much much better this way with 25 topics per page, no endless scrolling to find what you want.

4 - For PM, click where it says "0 new messages" in the upper left by the logout link.

5- click on the "View Active Topics" link. At the bottom there's a little drop down box where you can adjust it on the number of days or weeks. Not hours, though. Either way, you get the active topics very similar to before. There's also an icon to quickly clue you to which ones have a new message you haven't read before, for me there's almost no reason to even use Active Topics anymore.

6- Not sure what you mean by "home link", but try using the "Board Index >> Main Discussion" links, which gives you the option of going back to the main index or just the main page of whatever forum you're in.

7- Yeah, I agree it's annoying when people use large avatars. I think there's a way the admins can limit the size, but that's a pretty minor thing till the login issues get worked out.
