Greetings and salutations from the southern state!
I just wanted to share some images I received from Jim Olson a week or so ago. I mentioned to him that I was interested in seeing how he went with the Tiger Myrtle guitar he was making. He was happily sent me the images you see below.

If any Olf members have a yearning for Tiger Myrtle I am just a PM away!

regards

Tim

Well. Hard to argue with any of that, now ain't it? Beautiful wood made even more exquisite in the hands of a world class builder.

Wow! I saw this on another forum and it looks even better here(larger pics here I suppose). That is such a gorgeous set of Tiger myrtle! And of course - a great guitar by Jim O.

Even though I have never played any of his instruments, I'm becoming a big fan of his (I'm sure they sound as good as they look). I'm a big fan of his effective use of CNC & jigs, his sense of design, the business he has built, and not to mention his finished product. He has to be a master of more than just guitar building in order to be successful in all those things.

Yep, I think he's starting to get the hang of it.

Sweet looking wood Tim, looks like a leopard skin.

Couldn't talk him into joining the forum?

And THAT is why is so highly respected.  I also read somewhere that his production is about 60 instruments per year!  I encourage anyone interested to visit his webpage and take the shop tour of photos, very interesting.

Jim is a class act guy. His guitars are so amazing and I admittedly what to create guitars just like his.

Now that is one classy guitar right there. It's very bling free and still looks like a million bucks.

He's got some of the best tooling I've seen in any guitar factory. He is really generous in what he shows in his "online tour" pictures. So let's seee...up to 60 guitars per year at probably $10k apiece...that's some pretty impressive math!

James Taylor was so blown away by the tone of an Olson guitar that all his hair fell out.........

Jim is IMHO one of the top 5 luthiers in the world.  He also is an example to follow of how a one man shop, with a few apprentices, can be profitable, efficient, offer unparalleled value and tone, and succeed in the market place.

Paul Woolson visited Jim if I recall correctly last year and posted some pics.  Perhaps Paul will weigh-in here?

Lance I would compare Tiger's abilities to produce tight, deep bass and sparkling highs with BRW.

What a show off, that is extraordinary.

Great wood in the hands of a master. Congrats to Jim Olson and thanks to Tim Spittle for making this treat from the Tarkine forest available to instrument builders so that it may receive the respect and adoration it deserves.

Cheers

Kim

His base price is $12,500, and that covers most items of customization, with the exception of BRW and highly customized inlays.

What a beautiful instrument!  Can anyone explain how Jim achieved the rosette design?  Are those individual inlays, probably done with CNC?

Don't tell that.  Someone thinks it's hand made.

Wow, that's some set of wood you provided Tim! If that doesn't get you a lot of sales, I don't know what will!

A truly stunning guitar in gorgeous wood completed with flawess execution -- that's the target to aim at!  Jim's online tour is also outstanding.
