The Islands Luthiers' Guild is a is a loosely knit group of musical instrument builders from Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and other coastal communities in British Columbia on the west coast of Canada. Members build guitars, fiddles, double basses, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, banjos, mandolins and more.

On November 10, 2007 the Guild will be holding it's first annual 'Guitars by Hand' show at the Nanaimo Art Gallery at 150 Commercial Street, Nanaimo, B.C. There will be 15-20 builders attending and up to 50 instruments on display. It will be a rare opportunity to see so many high quality instruments at the same time.

The show starts at 10:00 am and will be open until 8:00 pm. Admission is free and there is plenty of parking in the area.

For more information, visit the Islands Luthiers' Guild website at http://www.islandsluthiersguild.com

Very cool Scott,

Is Abbotsford considered "Coastal" enough to become a member?

I'll have to check with the boss to see if I can make it out or not. If I can get picked up and dropped off at the ferries, I may be able to make it otherwise the expense unfortunately for me to drive over would be to much to justify.

edit,

I just looked at the map and the location is really close to the ferry terminal, I may just be able to make it without needing a ride. Just park on the mainland side and walk on.

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmm.....any other OLFer's going to be there?

Rod, our only requirement for membership is that you attend a meeting. You'd want to bring along a few dollars to contribute to the cost of the chilli which seems to have become our traditional meeting lunch. We meet about every three months in various locations on Vancouver Island.

There will be a number of OLFers exhibiting. I'll let them chime in here if they want to.

I don't live in Nanaimo but I think the ferry landing is a few kilometers from downtown and the Art Gallery. A bit of a walk but a very short cab ride.

Scott
