What do you think about binding the necK?
What would you say are the advantages vs. disadvantages?

The fretboard.
Recently did an ebony wood binding on an ebony fretboard, so without looking closely, it doesn't look like it's bound.

Also wondering what type of wood bindings may be more aesthetic from a timeless/universal point of view.

Seeing more guitars with curly koa and ebony wood bindings that look real nice. Ebony is hard and strong, and the black color is rather neutral. Of course this depends on the back/side woods, if contrasts are desired, or a cleaner look, etc., etc..

What's the opinions out there???

I always bind, usually with the same wood as the fretboard, just because I like that look.

My all time favorite wood binding is Snakewood. I gives almost a tortoise shell look but in a wood binding. great contrast for many back and side woods as well as fretboards

I love the look of a bound fretboard. I use the same material that I bind the body with, and it harmonizes the whole guitar, making it look more finished and artistic. Doesn't take that much time or effort to do well, either. My most recent was with snakewood binding, which is way cool.
