Hey y'all...

I was monkeying around in the shop and thought about using some metal in a rosette. Kinda ugly I think, but worth a shot I suppose. I don't think I've ever seen metal in a classical rosette (probably for good reason ). Any other rosette mishaps?? Thanks for looking.

another thought is to do the same with modeler's tubing. ABS is lighter than aluminum

Good idea Al...and yeah, buck tradition . I went home last night and looked at the rosette. The picture really makes the metal stand out. It really doesn't even look like that. The metal is not "blinging" like it appears in the picture. Who knows, i'll probably use it since it took a long time to do (i'm a bit on the slow side ). I definitely don't want to follow to tradition just for the sake of following tradition.

I used copper wire in a Selmer small oval hole rosette, set in black epoxy.  I plan on using metal again, for the right project.  I think yours looks pretty good, though I think that it needs the metal carried over to the borders to support it.  Could be just the  photo.

Any effect on sound? If the old masters had access to this kind of technology 200 years ago, it would be "traditional" by now.

Its just a rosette...I don't think that there's any effect on sound.
